Most important point is to pick a champion you like to play. I tried so many champs and was close to quitting the game. I ended up with Sona, granted a very easy champion but I love to play her. I don't need to CS so much and I don't feel pressured to get kills. I am still in Iron but I enjoy playing. If games go badly, I can still practice the power chords or something else.
